Rachel runs Reuters’ coverage of political and general news in Europe. She began her role in February 2022 and immediately had to start overseeing the organisation’s reporting of the war in Ukraine. Previously, she was the finance and markets editor across Europe, Middle East and Africa for six years, anchoring coverage of the ailing European banking sector.

Prior to that, Rachel worked in Asia for five years, as a financial correspondent and Singapore Bureau Chief. She won the Reuters award for Scoop of the Year in 2013 for her reporting on manipulation in Singapore’s offshore foreign exchange market
