Ambassador of Finland to Spain since September 2021, previously she has served as Director of the Unit for Security Policy and Crisis Management (2018-2021) and as Director of the Unit for European Common Foreign and Security Policy (2015-2018) in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. Ms. Rautio has extensive experience in the Ministry as well as in Finnish diplomatic missions abroad. She has served as Finland’s representative in the EU’s Political and Security Committee (PSC/COPS) in Brussels (2012- 2015) and as Adviser to both the Under-Secretary of State for political affairs and to the Director General of the Political Department in 2010 and 2012. She has also been the Head of Foreign and Security Policy at the Finnish Embassy in Moscow (2005-2008), and the Deputy Head of Mission at the Finnish Embassy in Addis Ababa (2002-2005). In her previous positions, she has especially focused on security policy, multilateral diplomacy, and development policy. Rautio holds a Master's degree in Political Sciences and, in addition to her native language Finnish, speaks Spanish, English, French, Swedish, and Russian.
